DigiDigital Media Manager (Spanish language))
Hard Knocks Strategies (HKS) is the go-to integrated strategy firm in FL for mobilizing Democratic voters statewide, with a proven track record of delivering groundbreaking, winning campaigns in FL and GA. HKS is looking for a well-rounded Digital Media Manager to join their growing Integrated Communications team. The Digital Media Manager’s primary responsibility will be to assist in crafting and executing cutting-edge digital communications strategy for a wide range of clients, with a focus on digital media engagement within FL’s diverse LatAm communities.
The ideal candidate is a registered Democrat, bilingual or multilingual, extremely organized, has a passion for social media, videography and graphics, excels in multi-tasking, can work well on a team and individually in a fast-paced environment, and is based in South or Central Florida.
Role and Responsibilities
The Digital Media Manager will work within the Integrated Communications team to develop and manage digital communications campaigns to achieve our clients’ and partners’ goals, with a focus on Hispanic and Latino outreach, including:
- Assisting the Integrated Communications team in executing digital strategy across multiple campaigns with a focus on engaging Spanish-language voters and groups, including creating written, photographic and video content for websites and social media in collaboration with clients, partners and vendors
- Managing social media campaigns as needed, including drafting vertical, long and short-form content for multiple social media platforms, creating and managing content calendars, using data to analyze and optimize social media messaging and strategy, and assisting with design, editing and graphics needs
- Supporting the development and management of digital organizing across various channels including Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Slack, SMS, and email, including training on tools and tactics, and troubleshooting in support of clients and partners on a suite of digital organizing platforms
- Supporting the development and management of email strategy and advocacy-based list-building, including producing, segmenting and creating lists, analysis and reporting to help optimize email fundraising and engagement strategy and improve design, content, distribution and performance
- Tracking relevant local media coverage in Spanish and supporting digital rapid response, reporter and social media outreach with Spanish-language outlets and influencers, and working with Media Relations Directors to create press lists and social media influencer lists for targeted Spanish-language outreach
- Assisting with a wide range of creative tasks including photo research, design for in-house materials and prospective client pitch decks, social media assets, display ads, GIFs, memes, storyboarding and more
- Performing other duties as assigned in support of promoting our clients’ and partners’ work
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of Florida politics and its diverse demographics
- Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to read, write and speak in Spanish fluently
- Proficiency in photography, videography and design for social media
- Great interpersonal communication skills, and strong project management skills
- Five (5) years of experience with a track record of building and executing successful digital communications strategies, or 2-3 years of traditional communications or digital experience on electoral campaigns and/or a political/community/labor organization, media outlet, or PR/digital agency
- Well versed in building and managing digital communications strategies encompassing owned, earned, paid, and shared media across all platforms
- Have a deep understanding of the ever-changing nature of the digital landscape as well an understanding of social media tactics and performance metrics
- Demonstrated experience using social media in advocacy campaigns to increase an organization’s reach, engagement, and influence
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, on-call environment, self-motivated and willing to work long hours, including nights and weekends as needed, particularly leading up to election dates
- Dynamic self-starter who can pick up tasks and understand them in a quick and efficient manner, flexible and willing to jump in on tasks both above and below your skill level
- Experience communicating with diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and bringing a sensitivity and appreciation of cultural differences
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education (though not required):
- Experience managing and training volunteers and staff highly preferred
- 1 – 2 cycles of candidate campaign experience preferred though not required, ideally with relevant digital experience, and/or one election cycle or more experience in Hispanic voter outreach
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or similar field
- Knowledge of graphic design and video editing software
- Familiarity with or a willingness to learn digital, distributed and relational organizing platforms
- Experience sending emails in a mailer like NGP, BSD, EveryAction, or MailChimp
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and/or CMS platforms like WordPress a plus, though not required

Salary range: $50,000 – $60,000
