Starmer se encuentra en una posici\u00f3n embarazosa desde hace meses debido a su decisi\u00f3n de nombrar en Washington al exministro laborista Mandelson, antes de destituirlo en septiembre pasado, tras acusarlo de haber &#8220;mentido de manera reiterada&#8221; sobre sus v\u00ednculos con el fallecido criminal sexual estadounidense Jeffrey Epstein. El diario The Guardian revel\u00f3 la noche del jueves que el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores hab\u00eda habilitado a Mandelson para ese puesto en enero de 2025 pese a un dictamen desfavorable del organismo encargado de verificar sus antecedentes. Tras esta informaci\u00f3n, Starmer destituy\u00f3 el viernes al m\u00e1s alto funcionario al frente de los servicios diplom\u00e1ticos, Olly Robbins, asesor del Foreign Office.
